Call for Abstracts
We are pleased to invite you to attend the 3rd Southwest Texas Asian Symposium, which will be held at Texas A&M University-Kingsville on November 1, 2019. * The theme of this year’s symposium is Convergence and Beyond, highlighting our mission to facilitate new collaborations within and across disciplines. This symposium will be co-organized by the Asian Studies Minor program at UTRGV (https://www.utrgv.edu/asian-studies/) and Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association Texas Coastal Bend Chapter (KSEA-TCB) (https://tcb.ksea.org/).
The Southwest Texas Asian Symposium is a forum for scholars, teachers, practitioners and students to promote collaborations and explore a wide array of disciplines including Cultural Studies, Education, Health Sciences, International Affairs, Languages, Social Sciences and STEM. *
Research Areas of Interest include, but are not limited to:
- Arts, Humanities, Languages, and Cultural Studies
- Business and International Affairs

Abstract Submission
Abstract Submission Deadline: 5 PM, September 27, 2019

The abstract must be within 300 words including the purposes of the study and a summary of the research or review.
Please indicate your preference for either an oral talk or poster presentation in the keywords section on the EasyChair submission site.
All abstracts will be reviewed by the committee, and the selected speakers will be notified by Oct 7, 2019.
Poster Presentation Guidelines (for under/graduate students;
Three categories:
- Research Critique: for critique of a published research article
- Review of Literature: for more in-depth presentation of a topic
- Original Research: for presentation of student-led research

We are pleased to announce the KSEA-RG 2019 funding opportunity for the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association Texas Coastal Bend Chapter (KSEA-TCB) members who are attending the 3rd Southwest Texas Asian Symposium (at Texas A&M University-Kingsville on November 1, 2019). KSEA was established in 1971 as a non-profit professional organization to help scientists and engineers develop their full career potential and foster international cooperation. The Southwest Texas Asian Symposium is a forum where scholars, teachers and practitioners of all areas convene and share research ideas to promote collaborations and explore a wide array of disciplines including Cultural Studies, Education, Health Sciences, International Affairs, Languages, Social Sciences and STEM.
Research Areas of Interest include, but are not limited to:

Proposal Submission Guidelines
Proposal Submission Deadline: 5 PM, September 27, 2019
Eligibility to apply: Regular members of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association Texas Coastal Bend Chapter (KSEA-TCB)
Application: Submit (1) a summary of the proposed research (within one page) (2) Budget justification (Application budgets may not exceed $500; please note that indirect and travel costs are not allowable).

An abstract is not required. Please indicate it is a Grant Proposal in the Abstract section on the EasyChair submission site.
All proposals will be reviewed by the committee, and the awards will be announced during the 3rd Southwest Texas Asian Symposium at Kingsville, Texas.

NMSC 2019 (4/13/2019)
KSEA Texas Coastal Bend 에서 주최한 제2회 NMSC 경진대회가 성황리에 마무리 되었습니다. 총 8명의 학생들이 참여하였고 올해는 콜퍼스의 이병현(Winsor park, 5th grade) 학생이 영예의 1등을 차지했습니다. 내년에는 더욱 많은 학생들이 참여하는 남텍사스에서 자라나는 우리 2세들의 자랑스러운 대회로 자리메김할 것으로 확신합니다. 봉사자로 참여해주신 성창규, 김태식 교수님과 그 외 학생들 참여를 독려해 주신 이경은, 최윤수 교수님들께 감사드립니다. 내년에도 많은 성원 부탁드립니다.
